Sirba Orchestra!
Description
A creative combination of classical tradition and the heritage of Eastern European folk music: this was the ideal hovering in front of the violinist Richard Schmoucler when he founded the Sirba Octet in 2003. Ever since, members of the Orchestre de Paris and Orchestre National de France have been joined by a pianist and harpsichordist and the arranger Cyrille Lehn to redefine a living, breathing interaction of Klezmer, Yiddish song and the music of Sinti and Roma, with integrative digressions through Romania, Moldova, Russia and Hungary. The Plugged-In audience has already had the opportunity to enjoy this, in the 2017 «Yiddish Rhapsody» programme. In combination with a balalaika, the Russian lute with its characteristic triangular soundbox, and a full orchestra, in this case naturally the Tonkunstler led by their Music Director Fabien Gabel, this collective celebration of classical world music boils over in the best way under the title «Sirba Orchestra!».
